EYE MAKEUP FORHOODED EYES
Hooded eyes come in lots of different shapes and sizes, but refers to eye shapes where excess skin folds down from the brow bone covering the eyelid, so eye makeup can often be hidden by the natural eye shape. Hooded eyes are usually down to genetics, but you might find your eyes become more hooded with age. If you have hooded eyes, of course you can go for whichever makeup look you like best, but here are some tips to make the most of your lid space and enhance your eyes.
DEFINING BROWS
Defined brows are a strong base for any eye look. Sculpting your brows can give a lifted look to your eyes and frame the chosen eye makeup. Follow the natural shape of your brows, filling in any sparse areas, using small strokes in the direction of hair growth. Our award-winning Precision Brow Detailer is ideal for mimicking natural looking brow hairs, with its ultra-fine tip to sculpt and frame. The Signature Brow Styler can also be used to lift the brow, either with the Precision Brow Detailer to add extra depth, or by itself for an ultra-defined and smudge-proof brow. Finish off your immaculate arches with the Finishing Brow Gel, combing the brow hairs upwards to achieve tamed and lifted brows in seconds.
WATERLINE EYELINER
If you find you don’t have enough lid space for eyeliner on your top lid, or it gets hidden when your eyes are open and looking straight on, waterline eyeliner can be a great way to wear a little liner whilst not overwhelming your lid space. To achieve this, you’ll want to opt for a soft pencil eyeliner on your upper and lower waterline. If you want to brighten up your eyes, the Wide Eyed Liner is a great option. It is a light peachy nude colour and when used in the lower waterline, will brighten the appearance of your eyes. If you’re after a deeper and more intense eye look, you can opt for the Skyliner Eye Pencil, which comes in black, dark brown and navy. For a little more glimmer and glam, the Highliner Glimmer Gel Pencil is perfect for a sultry sparkle, available in combinations of black and blue, black and gold, and black and purple.
SMOKE IT UP AND OUT
Whether you’re applying eyeshadow in the crease, or to the lid, it is important to blend the product upwards towards the brow bone, past the crease. This way, your eyeshadow won’t be hidden when your eyes are open and looking straight on. It will also ensure a seamless blend with no harsh edges. Our award-winning, creamy and blendable Forever Eye Colour Crayon is ideal for easy eyeshadow application. Simply apply the crayon into the crease or lower lid area and blend outwards. To blend, you can either use the tip of your finger or the Eye Blend Brush to diffuse the edges.
MINI WINGS
If you fancy a bolder liner look, mini-winged eyeliner can be used to elongate your eyes and give them a wider appearance. You’ll want to take the Luxurious Liquid Liner to create these little wings. It is recommended that those with hooded eyelids apply their winged liner whilst looking straight on into a mirror, to be able to see where the product will sit when the eyes are open. This way, you are less likely to apply the liner in a way that will mean your lids will cover your makeup when your eyes are open. Because those with hooded eyes are limited for lid space, smaller wings are suggested, so they don’t overwhelm the eye.
HIGHLIGHT
The best way to make your eyes pop is to opt for a highlighting product. This could be an iridescent eyeshadow that’s the same shade as your skin tone, or one or two shades lighter. The Forever Eye Colour Crayon is ideal for this, as the highly pigmented metallic shades will catch the light and highlight the area, giving the illusion of more space and wider eyes. Shade Sorbet would be good for fairer skin tones, and Antique for deeper skin tones. For hooded eyes, it’s best to apply on the mobile parts of the lid. You may want to apply over the centre of the lid, inner corner and brow bone to highlight and lift these areas.
