Applying blusher is a simple way to enhance and add warmth to your complexion, define your facial structure, whilst also having the ability to amplify your makeup look.
Enhances your complexion – You can help bring life to your face for a more refreshed, wide awake and vibrant complexion by adding a flush of colour to the cheeks.
Defines your facial structure – You can create the illusion of higher cheekbones and a more defined face by applying blush to the cheeks and blending it upwards towards your temples.
Adds dimension and warmth – Blush can reintroduce a subtle contrast in colour and restore a healthy glow after foundation application.
When it comes to applying powder blush, we recommend using a fluffy angled brush like our Perfect Blush Brush as the angled shape helps with precise application, while the fluffy bristles allow for seamless blending. Press the brush lightly into the blusher to pick up a small amount of product and tap off any excess powder. Avoid placing the blusher too low as this gives a drooping appearance, instead keep the blush high on the cheekbones for a lifted effect and sweep in an upward motion towards your temples. Use soft circular motions to blend into skin to prevent harsh lines. Our Special Finish Brush is also a good option for those wanting a little less pigment, as its lighter fibres will pick up less product and therefore less pigment.

You can use your fingertips or a fluffy brush to apply a cream or liquid blush but we always recommend starting out sparingly as a little goes a long way.
If you are using a liquid blush dispense a small amount onto the back of your hand and gently warm the product with your fingertips as this makes it easier to blend.
Fingertips
If you opt to use your fingertips ensure they are clean before coming into contact with your face. Dab three dots onto the cheeks working upwards for a lifted look and blend into skin by using a gentle tapping or dabbing motion for a seamless finish.
Brush
Lightly pick up product from the back of your hand with your Special Finish Brush and gently swirl onto the cheeks following the same upward motion. Ensure you completely blend to avoid any harsh lines. If you desire a more intense colour, repeat the application and blending process layering the blush gradually.
There are three main types of blusher formulas: liquid, cream and powder. The formula that is best for you really depends on what you’re looking to get out of your blush in terms of finish, application experience and coverage.
Liquid and cream formulas can be blended or applied with fingers, whereas you need to use a brush with powder formulas. Another thing to keep in mind is ‘play time’, which refers to the time it takes for a product to dry down. Cream and powder formulas don’t really dry down, so they have a lot of play time allowing you you time to blend the product. Liquid formulas do dry down, so you need to make sure all your blush is blended before the product stiffens on your skin and becomes difficult to blend out. Liquid blushers, such as our buildable Cheek Veil Liquid Blush, will give you the most naturally radiant finish. They are recommended for those with drier skin types, although they are certainly suitable for all skin types. Liquid blushers also tend to be among the most long-wearing blush formulas because they dry down and set.
Powder blusher is the most common, classic blush formula. Our Uplifting Cheek Colour is a lightweight, yet highly pigmented blusher that is both buildable and blendable. It has a feather-light consistency which will enable you to have ultimate control when applying. If you’re looking for a more radiant powder formula, Celestial Skin Shimmer is your best option. The light-reflecting properties deliver a naturally radiant glow, without compromising on pigment payoff. Both powder blushers deliver a soft-focus finish because of their silky-smooth formulas. Powder formulas tend to be recommended for those with oilier skin types but are again suitable for all skin types.
Cream blusher formulas are in between a liquid and a powder consistency. Again, they offer a radiant flush of colour, but with maximum blendability and play time. Our Colour Wonder Lip and Cheek Balm is a multitasking cream blusher and lip product that is ideal for those looking for a cream blush formula. It has a buttery texture, making it easy to blend and apply, whilst also being infused with active skincare ingredients to hydrate and care for your skin.
Choosing the right shade of blusher to suit your skin tone is a game changer and we are here to help to make sure you never pick up the wrong shade again.

Deep: Tend to have warm undertones and can reach for anything from hot pinks, rosy browns, deep berries to brick reds.
